Methodology

How we rank sportsbooks

Every sportsbook on this page runs through the same 200+ checkpoints we apply to every operator on BetRank — licensing, payout integrity, complaint resolution, and player experience. On top of that core, we layer a Sportsbook /10 sub-score that captures the things you only care about when you're betting: market depth, in-play coverage, settlement speed, cash-out reliability, and bet-builder behaviour.

We sample odds across major leagues at fixed cadences, verify settlement times against published events, and check every advertised feature against the live product. The score is algorithmic. No analyst moves it. No operator buys it. Pillar weights are documented in the full methodology, but the per-operator weights themselves are not published — that's how the algorithm stays unmovable from outside.

What to look for in a sportsbook

  • Licence tier first

A T1 licence (UKGC, MGA, AGCO) means dispute resolution actually exists. T3 licences offer little protection if something goes wrong with a settlement.

  • Market depth on what you bet

An operator can score well overall but be thin on the league or sport you care about. Check the per-sport coverage on the operator's review page before signing up.

  • Settlement and cash-out behaviour

Slow or inconsistent settlement is the single most common sportsbook complaint. Our cash-out median is sampled, not advertised — it reflects reality.

  • Bonus terms, not bonus headlines

A '£30 free bet' with 10× rollover at minimum odds 2.00 is materially different from a £30 free bet with 1× rollover. Read the meta line under every offer.

  • Responsible-gambling tooling

Deposit limits, time-outs, self-exclusion, and reality checks should be one click away inside the betting product — not buried in a help centre.

Full methodology
  • Every sportsbook runs through the same 200+ checkpoints applied to every operator on BetRank, plus a Sportsbook /10 sub-score that weights market depth, in-play coverage, settlement consistency, cash-out behaviour, and bet-builder integrity. Rankings on this page are sorted by that sub-score by default — you can switch to the global Trust Score above the list.
